When It Really Gets Cold
OK, I’m looking for warm this winter, very warm. So many of the stylish coats are not designed to keep you warm. Where I live and work, that’s insane. So I made my base criterion – warm. When a get a slew of those, I look again and try to find style that’s fresh and attractive – again without sacrificing warm!
Here’s one I like. I’m going to go to the store and make sure that it is as warm as it looks and see how the cut looks on me. I’m tall so that’s an advantage. I found this one at Bloomingdales – it’s a Tory Burch Blaney Long Sleeve Coat with leather trim. It flaunts gilded logo-embossed buttons and rich leather trim, while tailored back pleating completes the iconic winter look. The spread collar is also leather trimmed, two front pockets, front button closures. Back pleating, sleeve stitching details. It’s priced at $995 which is the outer edge of my budget. Bloomie’s item # 563167. They don’t have it at all the stores (isn’t that the current way – so irritating!) so call around and see if it’s near you or get them to transfer one to your store. Make them work for the money!
I just went to Nordstrom’s and punched in “Winter Warm Coats”. Wouldn’t you think that was a reasonable query? All I got was ski parkas.
Near to giving up, I fell for this Stadium Coat at Eddie Bauer. It’s a Weather Edge Superior Down Stadium Coat. I guarantee this will do it for the icy day at the ball game. And you know what, it looks kind of macho for the street on a really raw day too. $299 in black or olive. Take the black.
